So, it's 2013. We've got some new ideas, and (hopefully) the tme and means to implement them.  In the meantime, we're wrapping up HEROIC TALES #2, and Dirk Grobb and I will be on hand to sell and sign copies at MEGACON March 15-17th!
Aw yeah! Look for us in ARTIST ALLEY, BURGUNDY Tables 5A and 6A, with buddy Neil Jorge in the middle at 5B!
Mention actually visiting this site and get a free print! Signed no less!

My gosh, it's been a looooong time since I updated anything here, and since they used last years link to this site as a hot link for my name on the MEGACON page, I figured i better add a lil' summin'-summin'!
I got so caught up in TWITTER : http://twitter.com/#!/SebPiccione and CAT. 5's facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Cat-5/111027179694 that I've been neglecting this early attempt at a CAT. 5 site.
In THEORY, I really will have www.sundayknightcomics.com up and running soon.  Visit it now if you want to laugh at my techno-ineptitude.
Anyway, the countdown to MEGACON 2012 has begun. This year's Orlando MEGACONVENTION is Friday feb. 17th - Sun Feb. 19th.  I'll be there with CAT. 5 #0, collecting my (Sebastian Piccione) and Mike Dreher's short stories from the Lady Fight anthologies. Mike, Matt (Mastorism, Explosion Proof) Grant and I have left Earthbound Comics to do our own things.  Look for our new reboot of his EXPLOSION PROOF coming in 2012.

Back to MEGACON. I'll be at ARTIST ALLEY TABLE YELLOW 14 with Nelson Ortega. We'll have our CONVERSION story and (hopefully) DET. CO., a crime/detective story.  Kevin Little and Joe Kuzma will be next to us at YELLOW 15. Joe has several works, including our ALLIED FORCES, whereas Kevin and i will have our patriotic team story, UNITED SUPER AMERICANS.
Hopefully Neil Jorge and Willie Freeman will be with us, as well.

And, finally, Here's Mike Dreher's gorgeous cover to CAT. 5 #0, featuring our Hurricane Heroine and her foes, The Bull-Shark, Guerilla Gorilla, and The Pirate Captain.

ALLIED FORCES reached its KICKSTARTER goal with a full month to go on the clock, so we'll be fully funded and can get the cover, the colors, the printing, and be ready for MEGACON. Joe Kuzma has finished 19 of the 24 pages. I'm back at work on the script to issue #2.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/948324172/allied-forces-historical-fiction-meets-the-super-h?ref=search

CAT. 5 # 0 is still firmly in the works, with only a few pages of the final story to for Mike Dreher to finish, before we pass it on for colors and letters.

The script for CAT. 5 # 1 is well underway, having undergone some slight revisions for pacing, but we're on page 15 out of 20. Also, the first arc, leading through issue 4 is mapped out.

THE GRIM CREW have informed me that the cover to DEAD FUTURE #6 should be finished in the next day or so, clearing the way for the book's Halloween release.  DECOFFINATED will be Seb and Mike's first published non-CAT. 5 collaboration.

Neil Jorge is prepping the first 6 pages of FREEDOM'S MAN for inker NELSON ORTEGA.  Still not sure how Neil conned Nelson into doing that, but I'm glad he did!

Speaking of Nelson, the plot outline for the  three, five page back-ups of THE BUG (to be featured in CAT. 5 # 2, 3, & 4) is starting to come together, so hopefully I'll be scripting those, soon.

Not a lot of dull moments here in small press land!

Once again, things are hopping at SUNDAY KNIGHT COMICS STUDIOS, as we get ready for all sorts of goodness.

First off, CAT. 5 is getting ready for her next adventure, a light-hearted look at a rough week of super-heroinism, entitled A WEEK IN THE LIFE. This 8 page adventure by writer Sebastian Piccione and artist Mike Dreher, will be featured in the 4th issue of LADY FIGHT, the anthology by EARTHBOUND COMICS.

Not content with that, Seb and Mike have collaborated on a zombie story, for THE GRIM CREW's undead anthology, DEAD FUTURE #6, due out the end of October. DECOFFINATED answers that age old question, just how similar are the lives of zombies and your average office workers?

Looking ahead to 2011, Sebastian Piccione and artist Joe Kuzma have a full-length, full-color, full-awesome two issue mini coming up, called ALLIED FORCES. As the name suggests, it's a WWII era book, starring a super-team who take on the Nazi's.  Seb and Joe tried to make a more internationally diverse super team that we usually find in WWII comics, with heroes from Poland, England, France, Australia, Scotland, and Canada.  They are currently raising funds to help cover printing, coloring, and a kick-ass cover by KARL MOLINE (CrossGen, Marvel, DC, and Dark Horse)!! Check out the video and lend a hand! You get cool exclusive perks, while helping an indie comic come to life!

Plus, Sebastian Piccione (Jeesh, he must be starved for attention, 'cause he keeps getting involved in EVERYTHING!) and Neil Jorge are diligently working on a 3 issue mini, set during the American Revolution. FREEDOM'S MAN is a patriot and a hero, or a rebel and a traitor, depends on whom you ask, but either way his story is a wild one!

And, if that weren't enough, Sebastian Piccione, Joe Kuzma, Neil Jorge, and Nelson Ortega are headed to Orlando in March, of 2011. That's right, MEGACON '11 approacheth! The boys will be in ARTIST ALLEY at
Yellow tables 6 & 7. Sebastian and Nelson are at 6 and Joe and Neil are at 7!!
So, if you're heading that way, stop by and say, "Hey!"

Well, we're getting ready to wind down 2010 and looking towards the 2011 and beyond!

Sorry, I haven't updated in a while, but I've been busy...and things are starting to pay off.

CAT. 5 is heading into LADY FIGHT #4, for the end of the year, and we have plans to do a #0 issue for early 2011. We're also hoping to get her ongoing (but not quite monthly) title started in the new year, as well.

But, that's not all.  Nelson Ortega (Spectacular Spider-Man, Sonic: The Hedgehog, Silver Sable, Street Sharks) has joined up for some back-up features in the ongoing, wih a new character (who's actually 20 year's old---I created him in high School), THE BUG.

Plus, we have some other titles coming up, but more on them later!

Oh yeah, things are moving!

Like the header says, there's a lot going on at the moment!  First, Artist Mike Dreher and I have finished a 10 page zombie story for THE GRIM CREW'S zombiepocalypse anthology, DEAD FUTURE # 5, due out later this summer.

But, we're not sitting on our laurels waiting for that.  In fact, I'm not sure if we even have laurels, nor if they're something one REALLY wants to sit on. We've been hard at work on CAT. 5 #0. That's right, a full issue of hurricane powered goodness!  I've got the final story all written, and Mike has started the artwork.  CAT. 5 #0 will reprint the first two CAT. 5 stories from LADY FIGHT, plus it will feature an all new 8 pager that sets things up for the CAT. 5 series.

Oh, and did I mention this time it'll all be in COLOR!!??  OOOoooo! AAAAaaaah!

It looks like we've found ourselves a colorist (more on that at another time) and he's going to color the B&W LADY FIGHT stories, as well as the new story, giving us 26 pages of full color CATEGORY 5 adventures!

Oh, yeah! it's on!!

Here is the completed 1st page to the new story, BLOW ME DOWN, for March's LADY FIGHT #3, written by SEBASTIAN PICCIONE, drawn and shaded by MIKE DREHER, and lettered by MATT GRANT. I love this page, because Mike did such a great job of interpretting everything I wrote. My panels writing runs all or nothing, I'm either totaly open, and Mike can do as he will, or I'm totally pedantic, and overdescribe EVERYTHING.  Here, Mike did a great job of cathing our heroine in her Kathleen Day identity, at her family's business, 7 DAYS REAL ESTATE. He worked in the little file in her hands, with an actual old address of mine; the campny logo, the palm tree to remind everyone this is Florida, the picture of Kath's family, and Kath's 1973 Plymouth Duster.  And yes, I chose that car for her because they had the little whirlwind logo on the side. Sure, you can't see that logo here, as the back of the car is off-panel, but I like these little visual puns.  Look at the first story, CARD SHARK, and check out kath's glass on the cruise. She's drinking a Hurricane.  Yes, her cellphone is a Blackberry STORM.

I'm a sad little man, but I have fun!

The Übertalented Mike Dreher sent in the first 5 (of 10, halfway WOOT!) pages, completed, inked, and grey-toned for lettering. The nimble fingered (at least that's what I've been told) Matt Grant has already lettered them, sent them to me for approval, and was making some minor tweaks with them today.
I know Mike has a few more pages near completion, so it should be ready anytime now.
The second story is called BLOW ME DOWN, and pits CAT. 5 up against the ghosts of a pirate crew that once prowled Florida's GOLD COAST.
I MAY prefer NY to Florida (God KNOWS I wanna move back north), but I will say THIS...NY is home to too many super-heroes already, and using Florida as a backdrop sure lets me have a lot more room to play, and makes some of the old superhero tropes seem a little more fresh.
